RSS CHIEF’S ‘VIJAYADASHAMI’ SPEECH

RSS's annual ‘Vijay Dashami’ (also known as Dussehra, is a major Hindu festival celebrated every year) address, made from its headquarters in Nagpur, is watched by political and other experts as it describes the manner in which the  organisation views current developments.  Each word is thus, interpreted cautiously by experts who look at ideological linkages between RSS and BJP.

Three elements essential for national integration

At this year’s speech, RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat Tuesday talked about three elements essential for national integration -- devotion to motherland, pride in forefathers and common culture. He said even faiths that have "come from outside" must adhere to these elements.

"Three elements (devotion to motherland, pride in forefathers & common culture) make us one nation by tying together all diversities of language, region, religion, sect, caste, sub-caste etc. Even those who follow faiths which have come from outside must follow these 3 elements," he said.

The RSS chief said the inauguration for the Ram Temple in Ayodhya will take place on January 22. He appealed to the people of the nation to hold functions in temples across the country to commemorate the event. This is interpreted as a heavy loaded politico-religious statement.

Destructive forces' of marxists

Surprisingly, the RSS chief  took on the Marxists, describing "cultural Marxism" as "selfish, discriminatory and deceitful" forces that seeking "sectarian interests" by taking "control of the media and academia" and plunging the nation into "confusion, chaos, and corruption".

"The purpose of Bharat's rise has always been the welfare of the world. But, selfish, discriminatory and deceitful forces seeking their sectarian interests are also making their own efforts to disrupt social cohesion and promote conflict. They wear various cloaks. Some of these destructive forces call themselves cultural Marxists or ‘Woke'," said the RSS chief.

"They claim to be working for some lofty goals but their real objectives are to disrupt all orderliness and morality, beneficence, culture, dignity and restraint in the world," he added.

The RSS chief claimed cultural Marxists reward, promote, spread anarchy and indiscretion. "Their modus-operandi involve taking control of the media and academia, and plunging education, culture, politics and social environment into confusion, chaos, and corruption," he added.

Questions on Manipur violence

The RSS chief also spoke about the prolonged disturbance in Manipur. He raised questions with regard to the violence wherein, among other aspects, he sought to know about who had a vested interest in fanning the violence and on whose strength this violence has continued unabated for so many days. Bhagwat asked, "how did this mutual discord suddenly erupt in Manipur, which had been peaceful for almost a decade?

“Were there extremists from across the border also among those who committed violence?

"Which foreign powers may be interested in taking advantage of such unrest and instability in Manipur, located between Nagabhoomi and Mizoram in this border area?

"Does the geopolitics of Southeast Asia also have a role in the causal traditions of these events?

"Despite a strong government in the country, on whose strength this violence has continued unabated for so many days?

"Why did this violence break out and continue even though there was a state government that wanted to maintain the peace that had been going on for the last 9 years?

"In today's situation, when people on both sides of the conflict are seeking peace, what are the forces that can incite hatred and violence by causing an accident as soon as any positive step is seen being taken in that direction?"

Solution: The RSS chief made it clear that multidimensional efforts will be required to solve the problem. "For this, while political will, corresponding activism and efficiency are the need of the hour, at the same time, the enlightened leadership of the society will also have to play a special role in bridging the gap of mutual distrust that has arisen due to the unfortunate situation," he said.
